About the GATE Programme

GATE provides financial assistance to qualified citizens pursuing tertiary education at approved institutions, helping to build Trinidad & Tobago's skilled workforce.

Undergraduate Programmes
Up to $50,000 per year

Duration: 3-4 years

Coverage Includes:

  • Tuition fees
  • Registration fees
  • Laboratory fees
  • Book allowance (where applicable)
Postgraduate Programmes
Up to $75,000 per year

Duration: 1-3 years

Coverage Includes:

  • Tuition fees
  • Research costs
  • Thesis preparation
  • Conference attendance (approved)
Professional Programmes
Up to $100,000 per year

Duration: 2-5 years

Coverage Includes:

  • Tuition fees
  • Professional examination fees
  • Practical training costs
  • Equipment allowance

Eligibility Requirements

Ensure you meet all requirements before applying

Trinidad & Tobago citizenship or permanent residency
Acceptance at an approved tertiary institution
Meet academic merit requirements (minimum CSEC/CAPE grades)
Complete financial needs assessment
Not currently receiving other government funding
Commitment to serve Trinidad & Tobago after graduation (where applicable)
